Why UEC?
Brought to you by...
The Utah eLearning Connection is a collaborative project of the Utah System of Higher Education. The UEC provides access to credit and noncredit distance education classes and programs offered by accredited public Utah institutions.
Mission
The Utah eLearning Connection is a consortium of Utah community and state
colleges working to make technology delivered courses and programs readily
available to students in Utah and throughout the world.
Why college?
A college degree means a brighter financial future for many individuals. According to the 2000 US Census, individuals with some college earn $5,300 more than high school graduates:
| Level of Education | Avg. Annual Income |
|---|---|
| High School | $25,900 |
| Some College | $31,200 |
| Associates Degree | $33,000 |
| Bachelor Degree | $45,400 |
| Masters Degree | $54,500 |
College graduates are more likely to volunteer and to vote, and are less likely to be unemployed or to require public assistance. College graduates generally make better consumer purchase decisions, have more hobbies, and have improved life expectancy.*

Why distance education?
Internet, broadcast, satellite, and video classes are a solution for people whose lifestyles make attending class on campus difficult. Working students, students with children or other family obligations, or students who simply live too far from campus to commute find these options attractive. You can take classes to enhance marketable skills or to apply toward a certificate or degree. If you are self-directed and organized, you may very well be successful taking classes at a distance.

Why UEC?
The UEC is all about access: We help you access higher education whether you live in Ferron, Joseph, Mexican Hat, or along the Wasatch Front. The UEC is not a college itself. Rather it is a student information center for the 10 public colleges and universities in Utah. Our staff will:
- Answer questions about Utah higher education and about distance education.
- Help you match your academic and career goals to the Utah public college or university that will best help you achieve those goals.
- Help you select distance delivered classes from the offerings of 10 institutions. Ten schools equals more class choices. More choices may mean a better path to achieving your goals.
- Complete a lot of the admissions and registration legwork for you. We work with our schools to cut through the red tape associated with taking classes from different campuses.
- Provide online resources for students and faculty and a network of campus student support.
We bring education to your doorstep. We work for you. Call us toll free (877.533.9235) or email us.
